We continue our journey through the ACC in search of the best digital program. This is a chance for coaches and teams to share what it means to be a part of their system. To get you fired up and to want to sign up to become a part of something special. Thus far our journey has shown us #12 Boston College, #11 Miami, #10 Georgia Tech, and #9 Virginia Tech.
Let's keep moving.
#8. North Carolina State
I'm going to change things up a little. First, I'm going to hit you with the program's digital scouting report. Then, I'll hit you with the details. I hope you like this!
Strengths: The URL, GoPack.com, is great. The site offers blogs for AD Lee Fowler, Men's Sports, and Women's Sports. There is a great Twitter directory, by sport, and access to the Department Twitter and Facebook is elevated to the home page.
Weaknesses: The breakdown of blogs by men's and women's sports may fit the NC State org structure, but it leaves a lot to be desired. The Twitter directory is great but super hard to find. No easy access to the Basketball Twitter feed inside the Basketball section.
The Full Scouting Report:

NC State (main athletics site here) is in a great position to make impacts digitally. The pieces are here, and it is simply a matter of building on them.
Go Pack.com, the athletics site, (great name!) features blogs by Athletic Director Lee Fowler plus Men's and Women's sports blogs. They are super easy to find, and offer original commentary albeit not updated in awhile, perhaps due to summer break.
The site also offers podcasts that promise daily updates and coaches shows you can take with you. That seems simple, albeit not customized for basketball. I haven't seen evidence of a daily feed yet, but am excited about that prospect.
NC State offers ways to keep in touch via Facebook and Twitter pages, though it's extremely hard to find. Facebook is down at the very bottom of the site (scroll way down and you can find it). And Twitter... well, you need to click around to find this. From the home page, you click on "URL Shortcuts", then scroll down and click on the Twitter shortcut. You get a pretty solid screen, below. Talk about a hidden gem:
Links to their men's basketball Twitter page are here, though there are only 8 followers (quite possibly because of the labyrinth you must climb through to find it! But when you find it, you see something great -- they are using Twitter to share inside program access, witnessed by the callout "GoPack.com feature on the team in the weight room." Coach Sidney Lowe is starting to tweet here. He hasn't been very active (no Tweets since the Final 4), but I'm optimistic that they will evolve.
To sum it up, there are some great steps here. But there's also some things that need a spotlight on them, as I'm betting most high schoolers won't have the patience to go find these things!
Stay tuned for tomorrow's breakdown of #7...
