What makes something a best practice? This isn't about the most intricate experience. It's about looking at the world from your consumer's point of view and delivering something that hits it right smack on the head. For this work, I'm treating the primary consumer as that prospective student athlete.
Let's go...
Hit the Austin Peay website (ironically called "LetsGoPeay.com") and you are taken to the image below.
Let's hone in on the Multimedia Tab and Click into "Schedules for Outlook."
Clicking in takes us here, to a set of handy instructions on how to download your favorite team's schedule directly to your calendar. We reviewed a similar execution at the NBA Level, with the Dallas Mavericks (here), and there's a lot of the same level of good for the Governors as there are for the Mavs.
How many times do you see a schedule and make a mental note that you want to stay plugged in but you later forget? Or you get the handy pocket calendar and put it on your refrigerator? I do both quite often but I don't make a habit of checking that pocket calendar daily. I do, however check my Outlook calendar daily (multiple times daily!) So if you, the team, can crack into that sacred place -- the calendar, you have an opportunity to develop an intimate relationship with the fan... and the recruit.
And, as a bonus, you can filter it down to the sport(s) you really care about. No worries about cluttering up your calendar!
How could this be better? Could Austin Peay find a way to offer exclusive events only to those who download this calendar? Like a breakfast series with the coaches? Or access to a team banquet? The calendar feels like a way to offer something the world can't see...
That's it.

Perhaps Flogs.com offers more en better services in the case of add agenda items to your Outlook. It's free and easy to maintain and it offers far more value for both the club and the fan.
Interesting. Thanks for the post Bram. Flogs does offer a lot more customization, which is where Austin Peay could most improve.
