The Big Ten College Basketball All-Twitter Team

To conclude our analysis of the Big Ten Men's Basketball digital marketing, it's time to name our All-Twitter team. This isn't simply a list of the most followed or most active on Twitter. It's a chance to recognize those who are doing an amazing job of sharing original insights. It's a recommendation on who you should follow. And it's open to any coach, school, or conference official.

Here we go.

Big Ten First Team All-Twitter (not based on number of followers. But to make the First Team, I have to be willing to follow them myself!)

Coach Tom Crean, Indiana - The Big Ten Twitterer of the Year. Nearing 13,000 followers and you can see why pretty easily -- he does a great job of posting early and often. Shares inspirational quotes, articles on the team and personal feelings.

Michigan State Men's Basketball - Extremely active site. They share articles on the Spartans - both on MSU athletics or out in the media. Just over 700 followers.

Assistant Coach Brandon Miller, Ohio State- Just a great feel to his posts. Very personal. Gets you fired up about hoops. Not quite 400 followers. I'm proud to be one.

Iowa Men's Basketball - Very active, a personal feel to it. Somehow only 620 followers or so. This is a great, simple model for other programs (or people) to follow.

Michigan Men's Basketball - A great site, sharing insights on team workouts, articles, and reactions to the world of sports. Has roughly 2,500 followers.

Big Ten All-Twitter Honorable Mention - not quite as good, but still worth a follow.
Coach Tubby Smith, Minnesota - Over 2,700 followers, and Tubby does a nice job giving updates on the team and his following of other Minnesota programs - from the Gophers to the Vikings to the Twins.

Wisconsin Men's Basketball - Getting a lot better lately. Insights on what they worked on in practice are super cool.

Coach Bruce Weber, Illinois - Around 3,100 followers. He isn't very active, but I hope he becomes more active as his posts are insightful and original.

I hope you enjoyed this. Come back tomorrow as we turn our attention to the Big 12 Conference!

Glad to see someone choosing All Twitter team based on quality not quantity. We at Sports Media Challenge are pushing the sports marketplace hard to mve "to the next level" of social media. Experience doesn't equate to expertise any more than driveway basketball prepares someone to play or coach in the Big Ten. For the sake of passionate fans it's vital to not just be in social media but to be there and add value and insight, to the fans, sponsors and the organizations you represent.

I completely agree - thank you for your post. I hope we see more people offering insight as that raises everyone's level of thinking.
